What We Do
We are ready to accept ERISA cases, which are long term disability insurance disputes. These cases generally begin after someone receives a letter from their group disability insurance carrier denying disability benefits. We will review your denial letter for free and make recommendations based on that. This is one area of law in which people should definitely get a lawyer, and soon.
We will also handle serious cases of personal injury. Our injury practices includes car accidents, wrongful death cases, bike and motorcycle accidents, accidents involving the CTA, pedestrian accidents, truck accidents, falls and premises liability cases, dog bites, food poisoning, and accidents involving ride share companies (Uber and Lyft).
Residential real estate closings also make up a very large part of the practice. From time to time, we are also called upon to assist with mediations to help people resolve their disputes out of court.
If we cannot help you with a particular type of case, it is very possible that we can help you find another trustworthy attorney that might be a good fit for your case, using our network of referrals.
Disability Insurance Denials and ERISA
Insurance companies routinely deny long term disability claims without much thought. If you can’t work because you are now disabled, don’t rely on the insurance company (or your employer) to help you. Even though the insurance company has been collecting payments for your disability policy, this does not mean that they will just pay out once you try to collect on your benefits- they may just deny your claim outright, regardless of what you and your doctor have to say about your condition and inability to work. It is best to have your own lawyer review everything for you, as soon as you have been denied under your disability policy. Even if you are disabled, cannot work, and should be collecting benefits, the law is set up to work against you and the insurance companies know it.
Not all hope is lost. If you have received a denial letter but have not filed an appeal yet and are still on time to do so, talk to an ERISA long term disability attorney before the situation becomes any worse. Time is running against you and this is not something that is recommended to be done on your own. We can navigate this highly complex area of the law for you with the aim of holding the insurance company accountable under the terms of your group policy.
Personal Injury
When you’ve been injured, the last thing you feel like dealing with is insurance companies and the legal aspect of your personal injury. We are here to take much of the worry away from you. To begin with, you will want to know if you even need a lawyer and what happens after you’ve been hurt. It is crucial that you speak to a lawyer as early in the process as possible, before you make a mistake that can’t be undone. The insurance company is not your friend and their interests are opposed to yours. It is extremely important to work with your own lawyer, who understands the process and can be sure that you are treated fairly.
We not only make sure that we treat our clients fairly, but we believe that everyone is entitled to be treated with the utmost respect, empathy, and understanding. You will never be treated as just another personal injury case. We do not accept all cases and deliberately limit the number of cases that we handle, in order to make sure that every case is treated with the utmost care and attention. Personal Injury cases that we accept include serious auto accidents, Uber or Lyft accidents, pedestrian accidents, motorcycle accidents, bike accidents, truck accidents, slip and falls, dog attacks, cases resulting in death, and cases involving the CTA for bus or train accidents.
