How long will my Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Case take?

From the time your case is filed until it is completely over, most Chapter 7 cases are completed in about 3 - 4 months. DuPage County bankruptcy cases tend to go a little bit quicker than Cook County cases in my experience. Most people are anxious to get their bankruptcy completed quickly so that they don't have to worry about creditors anymore but did you know that as soon as you file for bankruptcy, the creditors have to leave you alone under what is called the "Automatic Stay"? Yep. It gets even better than that. Some attorneys (our office certainly) will take those creditor calls for you before your case is even filed with the court once you have retained us and become a client of O'Connor Cadiz Law.

Remember, sometimes it can take a while from the time you hire a lawyer until your case is ready to be filed. This is mostly due to the time it takes most clients to provide all the information that your lawyer needs . Don't delay, lets get the process started.
