I filed for bankruptcy yesterday and my creditors are still calling me. What’s going on?

Once you file for bankruptcy, the court notifies your creditors of the bankruptcy. It can take time for the creditor to receive the notice & “catch on”.  As soon as you file, you should keep your bankruptcy case number handy to give to any creditors who call, along with the name and phone number of your bankruptcy attorney. Let your lawyer know if this is happening.
