Will my government benefits be at risk if I file for bankruptcy?

If you are already entitled to benefits (for example, veteran's benefits), they won't be put in jeopardy just because a bankruptcy has been filed. The law is clear that a governmental agency cannot deny benefits to anyone solely because of a bankruptcy. This is prohibited by the Bankruptcy Code.

To learn about this protection and others offered by our nation's bankruptcy laws, contact O'Connor Cadiz law to find out how a bankruptcy might help you. Located in Schaumburg and in Itasca, we file throughout Chicago and the suburbs.
