The Buyer Wants To Do An “Inspection”. What Is That All About And Should I Be Worried?

Don’t be offended. It is routine and all smart buyers will want to hire a property inspector to look at the home and report back on the condition of the property. It makes sense, the home buyer wants to know exactly what they are buying, including any possible defects that may not be apparent and which the seller may not even know about. Don’t be surprised if the buyer asks for certain repairs or even a monetary credit as the result of the inspection. Whether or not the demands of a buyer are reasonable or even appropriate under the language of the contract should be discussed with your attorney as soon as the buyer makes a demand following his or her inspection. This will happen fairly early on in the sale process.
